Teachers in the Oldham County school system will receive a 7% salary increase following a vote of the board of education Monday evening.

The 7% increase is for all certified and classified employees, according to the district.

The board also voted to give hourly classified employees a $2 per hour raise.

The pay increases are scheduled to begin July 1 and are in addition to yearly “step” increases, which are typically given for continuing education credits, time in service, license upgrades and program certificates.

“We appreciate our legislators for passing a budget that increases support to public education which helps us recruit and retain high-quality staff for the ultimate benefit of our students,” district officials said in a news release to announce the pay increases. “And of course, we thank our board for recognizing the need to increase compensation as much as possible for every employee.”
