For the past several years, I have produced a Derby Fashion Show at the Henry Clay in Louisville for 350 UofL Alumnae that support the Family Scholar House buying tickets for $300 each.

The show was held last month and was sold out by November!

The show emulates the New York and Paris Fashion Week shows, utilizing 25 professional models and showcases the latest in Derby outfits, including hats and purses. Models are from both Cosmo Model and Talent Agency, and Heyman Talent.

There is an audition to select the region’s best professional runway models, fittings; three hour rehearsals and last but not least, there’s hair and makeup.

I’m joined by a backstage crew of six or more dressers including Oldham County participants Farrah Gallaher, Bobby Dewey and Eliza Frazier.

It is a special night with shopping, wine, auctions, wine, socializing, wine, hors doeuvres and more. Did I mention wine? At the end of the evening, the attendees enter the Henry Clay Ballroom for a Von Maur Fashion Show that is high energy, and always lots of fun! The event raises $600,000 + for the Family Scholar House each year. What a way to start the season!

The Family Scholar House assists young University of Louisville students (that also happen to be parents), with housing, child care and sometimes employment, so that they can be successful and get their degree.

Contact Family Scholar House to learn more about them and how to join us for next year’s show at familyscholarhouse.org.
